Project Overview
For the web version of our platform, we implemented a new signup flow using One-Time Password (OTP) authentication, focusing on enhancing security against fraud and bot registrations while maintaining a user-friendly web experience.
My Role
As UX/UI Designer and Frontend Developer for the web application, I was tasked with designing and implementing an OTP-based authentication flow. My role involved creating a user-friendly web interface, integrating it with backend OTP services, and ensuring robust security.

Challenge

The challenge was creating a secure, bot-resistant signup system for our web platform that was also user-friendly, balancing high-security measures with an effortless web user interface.

Problem

The existing signup system on our website was prone to bot registrations and fraud, lacking advanced security measures and affecting user trust.

Goal

To overhaul the web signup experience with OTP authentication, reducing fraud and bot interference while enhancing user experience.

User Journey

In the previous signup form, the system lacked validation for phone numbers and emails, posing a potential vulnerability to fraudulent signups. This update addresses this issue by prioritizing phone number validation, enhancing security and minimizing the risk of unauthorized users exploiting the signup process.

Results

Implemented OTP authentication successfully reduced fraud and bot interference in the web signup process. The new system enhanced security measures while maintaining a seamless user experience, reinforcing trust in the platform's registration process.

Constraints & Considerations

The tight project timeline necessitated efficient planning and execution. The design needed to cater to users with varying levels of technical expertise, ensuring broad accessibility.

This project emphasized the importance of balancing security and user experience in web design. It highlighted the need for continuous innovation in security measures to protect user data and build trust, especially in web-based platforms.
